Trump says that ‘it is possible’ for the United States to get involved in the Israel-Iran conflict

President Donald Trump said that on Sunday the United States is not involved in Israel’s military attacks against Iran, but “we may be involved.”

That comes after reports that Israel had urged the United States to join the conflict with Iran to eliminate its nuclear program.

In an interview with Rachel Scott of ABC News, Trump refused to comment on if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a personal plea for the United States to get more involved.

“We are not involved in Him. We may get involved. But we are not at this time involved,” said the president.

Trump also shared that he had a long call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday to discuss, in large part, the conflict in the Middle East.

The president told ABC News that he would be “open” to Putin’s idea to serve as a mediator between Iran and Israel.

“I would be open to it. [Putin] It is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it. We talk about this more than your situation. This is something that I think will be resolved, “Trump said.

The president’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, would travel to Oman on Sunday for another round of nuclear conversations with Iranian officials. But after the attacks of Israel, they will cancel the meeting. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the “unjustifiable” nuclear negotiations after attacks, which were carried out with the support of the United States.

The president, who declared that I will give Iran a “60 -day ultimatum to” make an agreement, “he told ABC News that he is not establishing a new deadline.

“No, there is no deadline. But they are talking. They would like to make a deal. They are talking. They continue to speak,” said the president, referring to Iran.

“Something like that had to happen because I think even on both sides, but something like that had to happen. They want to talk and be talking,” added the president.

Iran’s Foreign Minister said an ambassadors meeting on Tehran on Sunday that Israel’s ongoing attacks against the country could not have happened “without the agreement and support of the United States” and insisted that Iranian officials do not ‘believe in the affirmation of the United States’ that had no participation.

Despite the stagnant conversations about Iran’s nuclear program, the president expressed optimism that attacks will lead Iran to the table.

“He may have forced an agreement to go faster, really,” Trump said.
