“We are aware of the initial reports and we are working to collect more information,” Boeing said in a statement.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation of India said the plane “fell to the ground outside the airport perimeter” immediately after it left the airport.

“There was a strong black smoke from the accident site,” said the general direction in the statement.

The Minister of Civil Aviation of India said that “he has addressed all aviation and emergency response agencies that take quick and coordinated measures” to respond to the accident.

“The rescue teams have mobilized, and all efforts are being made to ensure that medical help and relief support are taken to the site,” added the minister.

The airline said it was “determining the details” of the incident.
