A lawyer who represents a migrant sent to El Salvador under the Alien enemies law in which his client was deported due to a football logo tattoo, according to the court statements presented on Wednesday night.
Linette Tobin represents Jerce Reyes Barrios, a professional football player from Venezuela who protested against the Maduro regime in February and March 2024 and was arrested and tortured after one of the demonstrations.
Barrios arrived at the border between the United States and Mexico legally through the CBP One application in September 2024, but has been accused of being a member of the Aragua train, or TDA, and was arrested in an installation under maximum security, Tobin said.

Barrios was transferred out of maximum security after presenting this evidence and had an audience established for April 17, according to his lawyer.
Around March 10 or 11, Tobin said his client was transferred to Texas without prior notice and was immediately deported to El Salvador on March 15.
“The advice and family have lost all contact with him and have no information” about his whereabouts, Tobin wrote in judicial documents.
